The District Clerk's office continually makes improvements to streamline processes, as well as to innovate and expand our staff's knowledge through training. Through team work, we strive to provide a seamless experience for all who enter our office.
We, at the District Clerk's office, uphold a high ethical standard in our professional and organizational conduct -- not only with our colleagues and judicial partners, but also with all who enter our office. We ensure the accuracy of financial reports, we monitor budgets and we implement financial controls to save money for the taxpayers of Kerr County.
The district clerk performs the duties assigned by the Texas Constitution as registrar, recorder and custodian of all court pleadings, instruments and papers that are part of any legal cause of action in the district courts.
The District Clerk:
Serves as clerk and custodian of all records for the district courts.
Coordinates the jury panel selection process.
Processes passport applications.
Manages court registry funds.
Indexes and secures all court records, collects filing fees, and handles funds held in litigation and money awarded to minors.

Criminal Court Information
At any stage in a criminal process or case, a defendant is entitled to be represented by an attorney. Most defense attorneys are hired and paid by the defendant, however if a defendant is indigent, he may be entitled to a court-appointed attorney. Requests for court-appointed attorneys may be made at magistration, following an arrest or at any time during the process up until the day of trial.
