District Court to Reopen; Releases Schedule for Next Week

REOPENING!

Kerr County District Clerk Eunavae Baublit said her office has successfully relocated to its temporary site.

TEMPORARY ADDRESS: The District Clerk's office will be operating out of the Hill Country Youth Event Center, 3785 TX27 in Kerrville.

THE PUBLIC will be able to visit it there in-person starting Monday, July 27. O

OFFICE HOURS - 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Mondays through Fridays.

WHERE TO ENTER - For those planning to visit the office in its temporary home, please note that the entrance is located on the left side of the HCYEC building by the "Office" sign.   

PASSPORTS cannot be processed at this time.

NO CASH payments will be accepted. Only money orders, checks or credit cards accepted.

CALL AHEAD: Due to the space being very limited in their temporary office, the district clerk asks that citizens call before coming - 830-792-2281.

  • Monday, July 27: 216th Jury Trial - CANCELED

  • Tuesday, July 28: 198th Grand Jury, 8:30 a.m. at Municipal Court, 365 Clearwater Paseo, Kerrville  

  • Tuesday, July 28: 198th Civil Docket as scheduled at Municipal Court, 365 Clearwater Paseo, Kerrville

  • Wednesday, July 29: 198th Criminal Docket, 9 a.m. in the JP2 Courtroom, Suite 103, 400 Clearwater Paseo

  • Thursday, July 30: 216th Criminal Docket, 9 a.m. in the JP2 Courtroom, Suite 103, 400 Clearwater Paseo

  • Friday, July 31: Public Hearing, 11:30 a.m. on the Kerr County Courthouse front steps, 700 Main Street. (The courthouse facility is closed to the public, so this will be held on the exterior of the building.)

6th Administrative Judicial Regional Judge Kirsten B. Cohoon has signed the following order, which paves the way for alternate court locations since the Kerr County Courthouse is closed due to damage from flooding.

PASSPORT processing is SUSPENDED TEMPORARILY.

The District Clerk's Office is currently working to relocate to another county facility and will get back to normal service for the public as soon as possible.

We thank our citizens for their understanding and patience.

ALL courthouse offices are relocating to other county sites. Their return to the courthouse will be at staggered intervals. The District Clerk's office, normally on the 2nd floor, will return only after the elevator is repaired, which could take a minimum of 2 months.

The district clerk performs the duties assigned by the Texas Constitution as registrar, recorder and custodian of all court pleadings, instruments and papers that are part of any legal cause of action in the district courts.

The District Clerk:

  • Serves as clerk and custodian of all records for the district courts.

  • Coordinates the jury panel selection process.

  • Processes passport applications.

  • Manages court registry funds.

  • Indexes and secures all court records, collects filing fees, and handles funds held in litigation and money awarded to minors.

Please have all of your documentation filled out and ready to go when you arrive at the office. You will need a check or money order to go with each passport application. ALL applicants MUST be present when applying for a passport including minor children.

Criminal Court Information

At any stage in a criminal process or case, a defendant is entitled to be represented by an attorney. Most defense attorneys are hired and paid by the defendant, however if a defendant is indigent, he may be entitled to a court-appointed attorney. Requests for court-appointed attorneys may be made at magistration, following an arrest or at any time during the process up until the day of trial.
