Voter registration deadline, early voting dates announced for Kerr County

Kerr County residents who would like to vote in the Nov. 4 Constitutional Amendment Election, but who are not registered to vote have until the Oct. 6 deadline to get properly signed up.

Any Kerr County residents who want to know if they are already registered to vote can find out for certain by visiting: https://www.votetexas.gov/register/index.html. That same site also allows voters to start a voter registration application, as well as to update their voter registration.

Anyone wishing to register to vote in person rather than online may do so at the Kerr County Tax Assessor Collector’s Office/Voter Registration Department, located in Suite 124, on the main entry floor of the Kerr County Courthouse, 700 Main Street in Kerrville.

Ballot by mail

Those applying for a ballot by mail must make sure the Kerr County Clerk’s Office has received their request by the end of day on Friday, Oct. 24.

To be eligible to vote early by mail in Texas, a voter must be: 65 years or older, sick/disabled; out of the county on election day and during the period for early voting; expecting to give birth within 3 weeks before or after election day, or be confined in jail (but otherwise eligible to vote.)

Nov. 4 election

To be decided on the Nov. 4 ballot for the Constitutional Amendment Election are 17 state propositions. Those citizens that reside in the Divide Independent School District will also have a Bond Election on their ballot.

Early voting

Early, in-person balloting will run from Oct. 20-31.

There are two early voting locations in Kerr County

  • Union Church, 101 Travis Street, in Kerrville, and,

  • West Kerr County Courthouse Annex, 510 College Street in Ingram.

Local, registered voters may take advantage of the following flexible hours to visit the early voting polls:

Oct. 20-24 (Monday through Friday): 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Oct. 27-29 (Monday through Wednesday): 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Oct. 30-31 (Thursday and Friday): 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

(No voting will be available on Saturdays or Sundays.)
