Looking to Repair/Rebuild? Kerr County Expands Resource Page

Whether suffering damages for the first time or facing the daunting task of having to recover yet again after work done following last year’s flood disaster, Kerr County residents will find the answers to many questions about repairing or rebuilding all in one convenient location – the Flood Damage Resource Page – which has just been expanded by Kerr County Engineering Assistant Bobby Gore, C.F.M.

The page, which debuted after last year’s disaster as a helpful resource hub, can be found by clicking the link featured at the top of the Kerr County Engineer’s departmental page on the county website, www.kerrcountytx.gov.

“We updated the page to help Kerr County property owners who are looking to repair or rebuild after this year’s July flood,” Gore said. “For some of them, this is the second time they will be starting over in two years, and we know and sympathize with how many questions can come up with faced with this challenge.”

The Flood Damage Resource Page offers timely, accurate and relevant information at their fingertips 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Featured on the webpage are 3 main sections: one for this year’s flood and one for last year’s flood – both containing information that speaks to the question of “Do I Need a Floodplain Permit?”, a flowchart that maps out what steps should be taken, a viewable/downloadable PDF document that is the actual “Floodplain Permit Application” in a fillable form, as well as information that explains “Substantial Damage.”

The third section on the page is title “Rebuilding with Resiliency” and it features helpful links to resources on retrofitting, flood risk data, building flood loads, resilient design and construction, flood damage-resistant materials, flood-proofing and more.
