The Kerr County Commissioners’ Court invites all local organizations to pay tribute to our nation’s fallen heroes by presenting wreaths during the annual Kerr County Memorial Day Program on Monday, May 27, at the Kerr County Courthouse, 700 Main Street in Kerrville.

“We encourage organizations to bring their occasion-appropriate wreaths to this observance,” said Kerr County Veterans Service Officer Jenna Sanchez. “These wreaths will serve as a very visible symbol of the continuous commitment that we, as American citizens, have toward honoring and remembering the sacrifices made by generations of military men and women in defense of our American way of life.”

This year, the wreaths and their supporting organization will be announced as they are paraded in front of the granite Kerr County War Memorial and then placed at its base in a newly organized fashion.

Registration of participants is required and must be made in advance of the 10 a.m. ceremony on the day of the event. When they sign up, the wreath layers will be issued a number that will help ensure their wreaths are placed in an orderly design near the memorial.

All organizations who choose to participate are also asked to provide a wire stand for their wreath so that it is capable of standing freely.

The Kerr County War Memorial pays tribute to local military service men and women who paid for the freedoms we enjoy today with their lives. Their names are listed by order of conflict.

Additional details about the Memorial Day event will be released as that date nears.
