Kerr property tax statements going out in mail this week
As the Kerr County Tax Office prepares to mail property tax statements this week, an important reminder was issued to those who suffered property tax damages during the July 4 flooding disaster.
Temporary Tax Exemption
“If you own property that was damaged during the flood, then you have until Saturday, Oct. 18, to apply with the Kerr Central Appraisal District for a temporary property tax exemption,” said Kerr County Tax Assessor-Collector Bob Reeves.
More information about the Oct. 18 temporary exemption deadline is viewable on the Kerr County Tax Assessor-Collector’s page on the county website: www.kerrcountytx.gov.
The form needed to apply for the exemption is downloadable from the Kerr Central Appraisal District website at: www.kerrcad.org. Or, call the appraisal district for assistance at 830-895-5223.
If granted an exemption, then homeowners and certain small businesses may qualify to pay their property taxes in four installments without any additional penalty or interest fees.
Anyone who has not received their property tax statement in the mail by Friday, Oct. 31, or who has questions about paying property taxes is asked to call the Kerr County Tax Assessor-Collector’s Office at 830-792-2242.
The office, located in the Kerr County Courthouse, Suite 124, at 700 Main Street in Kerrville, is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays.
Tax services are also available at the West Kerr County Courthouse Annex, located at 512 College Street in Ingram. Hours there are from 8 a.m. to noon and 1:30-4:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays.
