Kerr County veterans urged to create new login for VA

The Kerr County Veterans Service Office is urging U.S. military veterans in the area to start setting up their accounts for online access to the VA.

“At the start of next year – 2025 – our veterans will have to start using a Login.gov or ID.me account to sign in online,” said Kerr County Veterans Service Officer Jenna Sanchez.

That’s because the VA is transitioning to a simpler, more modern type of sign-in experience and offering two secure sign-in account options -- either the Login.gov or ID.me, she explained.

“After Jan. 31, 2025, you won’t be able to sign in to the VA websites or apps with a My HealtheVet user ID and password. And, after Sept. 30, 2025, you won’t be able to sign in with a DS Logon username and password,” she said.

The VA and the Kerr County VSO is encouraging all veterans to get a step ahead in the process and create a Login.gov or ID.me account now.

“If you already have one of these accounts, but have not used it yet, start now so that you have time to get used to it before the big change,” Sanchez suggested. “With Login.gov or ID.me, you’ll have access to all the same information and services you use today.”
