Kerr County Veterans Service Office announces upcoming closings

The Kerr County Veterans Service Office (VSO) has announced that it will temporarily close its doors the week of Monday-Friday, Aug. 24-28, and again on Wednesday, Sept. 2.

The weeklong closing is due to limited available staffing. Those who have appointments scheduled that week will be seen.

The one-day closing on Wednesday, Sept. 2, will be to allow staff to prepare for the next day’s 2026 Veterans Benefits Fair, which is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3, in the Happy State Bank Expo Hall of the Hill Country Youth Event Center, 3785 TX27 in Kerrville.

“We appreciate the community’s understanding and patience during these upcoming temporary closures,” said Kerr County Veterans Service Office Jenna Sanchez. “Our staff looks forward to serving veterans and their families during this year’s benefits fair, and we will resume normal office operations following that event.”

The Kerr County Veterans Service Office offers services completely free of charge to assist military veterans, their family members and their survivors who reside in Kerr County with information regarding the legal benefits available to them under federal and state laws.

The VSO reports to the Kerr County Commissioners’ Court. It does not adjudicate claims.

The Kerr County Veterans Service Office is located in Suite 107 of the Allie Burton Annex, 550 Earl Garrett Street in Kerrville. While walk-ins are welcome, priority is given to those who have appointments.

Days of operation are Mondays through Thursdays. It is closed on Fridays.
