On Wednesday, Sept. 17, a total of 850 vaccines were administered during Kerr County's Annual Drive-Thru Flu Shot Clinic.

More than 700 residents were inoculated against the flu or COVID (or both!) during the communitywide event held at the Hill Country Youth Event Center.

"We appreciate our citizens turning out in full force for this health initiative ," said Kerr County Emergency Management Coordinator William B. "Dub" Thomas. "Their participation made this a success, as they took steps to protect themselves and our community against future illness."

"A big THANK YOU also goes to the Kerrville HEB Pharmacy, who once again joined the county in hosting the clinic and who supplied a qualified staff to give the shots. As always, we are grateful for them," Thomas added.

"And, we would like to acknowledge and express gratitude to our squad members from the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) -- a group of trained volunteers who helped direct traffic and keep things running smoothly so that our residents could get their shots conveniently without ever having to leave their vehicles," he said.

If you missed the chance to "drive away" sickness in the drive-through clinic, don't worry -- it's not too late. Visit HEB or any preferred local pharmacy for detailed information on receiving vaccines ahead of the upcoming flu season.

According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, the flu season in Central Texas typically runs from October through May.
