Kerr County citizens turned up Wednesday, March 29, at the Kerr County Courthouse grounds to show their appreciation for the service and sacrifice made by military service men and women during the Vietnam War.

In observance of National Vietnam War Veterans Day, the program coordinator by the Kerr County Veterans Service office and the Kerr County Veterans Service Advisory Committee, was hosted in front of the war memorial and featured proclamations read by Kerrville Mayor Judy Eychner and Kerr County Judge Rob Kelly.

Serving as master of ceremony was U.S. Marine Corps veteran Jeff Harris.

March 29 marked the 50th anniversary of the day the last U.S. combat troops left Vietnam and the date that the U.S. Military Assistance Command was disestablished. It is now recognized as National Vietnam War Veterans Day and flags are flown in honor of those men and women who served and sacrificed so loyally to their country.
