Free, small space heaters being made available through Kerr County VSO, AACOG
The Kerr County Veterans Service Office (VSO) is committed to keeping our older Kerr County residents safe and warm this winter. As such, it has announced a partnership with the Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG) that will assist local individuals in need of safe heating for their homes this winter.
The Warm Hearts Warm Homes program will provide small space heaters at no cost to individuals 60 years and older and/or caregivers 55 years and older who do not have any other safe heat source in their residence. Please note that a stove is not considered an approved heating source under the program’s guidelines.
“Supplies are limited, and heaters will be distributed on a first-come, first served basis to qualifying Kerr County individuals,” said Kerr County Veterans Service Officer Jenna Sanchez.
Those who are interested in receiving a free heater are encouraged to contact the Kerr County VSO as soon as possible to determine their eligibility. Call 830-792-2203 or email veterans.service@veterans.kerrcountytx.gov.
“We want to make sure that our older veterans stay warm, safe and supported throughout the colder months ahead,” Sanchez said. “We encourage eligible veterans or those who care for them to reach out promptly in order to receive a heater while the limited supply lasts.”
